We are now live blogging the closing session of the American for Prosperity Foundation’s Defending the Dream Conference. It’s their largest event of the year, attended by conservatives nationwide. Please excuse spelling errors.
Vice President of AFPF, Alan Cobb is first up to speak. Keep checking for updates. Your blogger sat with his teenage children last night at the Ronald Reagan dinner and they mentioned how much time and financial resources he donates to this cause. He is introducing Brent Bozell, KCC’s hero, founder of the Media Reasearch Center.
His father was also a hero of this blogger, helping to start the original conservative movement right before Barry Goldwater ran for the presidency. The number ! story in this election cycle is unemployment and the economy. Yet ABC, CBS, and NBC didn’t report this terrible news, until they absolutely had to. ABC still has not reported it.
Gas prices went up and only 27 stories came out. Yet during the Bush years, four times as many gas prices stories came out.
The media also has plenty of time plenty of time for Mitt Romney and his “gaffs”. Four years ago when Obama went overseas, the Big Three networks treated him like a GOD. Don’t worry because new media will take them over, and we have!!!
Tim Phillips, president of AFP, is introducing the state directors. In this blogger’s opinion, he should give Dallas Woodhouse and the North Carolina team special recognition. We were the very first state, originally organized as Citizens for a Sound Economy.
Mark Levin is now speaking and says its Barack Obama’s birthday, to much laughter.
He says we are standing on great shoulders. He reminded us of the one generation freedom is from extinction as Ronald Reagan said. Abraham Lincoln said that our worst enemy comes from within.
He says things like social justice, economic equality, and such things have come into our culture. It’s hard to believe that the President of the United States is one of the malcontents that are being created. It’s seeping into our culture by indoctrination. We now live in a post constitutional world, thanks to these malcontents.
He mentioned Woodrow Wilson. He condemned Federalism and the notion of state sovereignty. He said liberty was a privildge. The will determine the scope of the office. He called this “constitutional adaptation.” I call it bull crap, said Levin.
Is there anything the Federal Government cannot regulate if it chooses to? Levin mentioned the recent the Supreme Court ruling that said the government can regulate our physical and mental health. It’s a post-constitutional goverment in an increasingly authoritarian society.
He mentioned that it’s Obama’s birthday today, but so what, it’s also Saturday.
No President has had more contempt for the country he leads and for the people he represents. Mr. President, if you don’t understand the way American works, how can you fundamentally transform it?
Levin asks “since when does the money you earn belong to the government?”
Obama said if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own.
Obama says it’s time for a revolution, but Levin says its time to reinstate the American Revolution!
The Obama administration has driven up our debt in four years more than $41 trillion, more than all other presidents combined. The poor have gotten poorer. The welfare state is growing and collapsing at the same time.
“What the hell are our kids gonna do”, asks Levin.
The challenge today is much more complicated than previous wars because the challenge is from within.
No society is guaranteed perpetual existence. That’s why we must work for this election, next election, and in the elections beyond. We have no choice. This is our country and we want it back!
Standing roudy ovation.
This ends our live blogging session. We’ll have more on this wonderful Defending the Dream Conference soon.
Lately it seems, when conservatives come to town, the cockroaches venture out of the dark and come after the candy. Our liberal friends at Occupy DC and their union thug counterparts are planning activities to disrupt the largest conservative political gathering.
According to multiple sources, the Occupiers are scheduled to pitch tents on the lawn of the CPAC Hotel, the Marriott Wardman Park. Your blogger even saw ads requesting donations of tents.
Members of the AFL-CIO have registered for the conference and have booked at least 30 rooms in the hotel.
At the November 2011 Defending the American Dream Conference, sponsored by Americans for Prosperity, Occupiers stormed the hotel and convention center, injuring this blogger.
These people aren’t simply our opposition, they take hatred to an entirely new level. They don’t know what they stand for and they resent anyone with a job who works hard to take care of themselves and their family.
Many of these Occupiers live at home with their parents, sort of a “slacker” generation. They hate capitalism, the very system that brought them the prosperity they grew up enjoying. Yet they’d rather live in a disease infested tent, and drop out of society.
They are planning “creative activities” to disrupt the conference on Friday and Saturday, Smart Girl Politics Action, a conservative women’s organization, has warned its members to stay safe:
The SGPA leadership team, members, and many of our bloggers will be attending the event. We would urge those of you attending to be alert, and to take every precaution in keeping yourself safe. The SGPA leadership team, members, and many of our bloggers will be attending the event. We would urge those of you attending to be alert, and to take every precaution in keeping yourself safe.
Wednesday evening, your blogger spotted an Occupier using one of the public computers in the lobby of the Wardman Park Hotel. She was easy to pick out. She wasn’t dressed neatly, wore a “Che” hat, and had black and white colors on, while the rest of us cheerily sport our red, white, and blue. In short, we are the happy ones and they are the ones with an ax to grind.
More information is available here. KCC promises to bring you news on this situation as it develops. Let the Occupiers try to come after us. We’ll meet them head on with video cameras in hand, ready for uploading! Bring it on! I may not be able to carry a gun in the District, but I do have my cane and KCC wouldn’t mind using it in self-defense.
Congresswoman Ellmers has stood firm for the beliefs for which she was elected and we need to thank her by helping her prepare for her upcoming campaign.
According to the Americans for Prosperity, Democrats are much more likely to donate money to their favorite causes than Republicans and conservatives. However, for us to win in 2012, we conservatives must let go of more of our hard-earned money and share them with our favorite candidates and causes.
We must educate so that we can win!
The all important vote will be the Unaffiliateds. After speaking with a number of them, it is clear that we need to educate them on the importance of voting with us in 2012.
Monday night, brings the perfect opportunity to help Rep. Ellmers. She’ll be at Raleigh’s Angus Barn restaurant with Leader Cantor. Come out and have a good time! Full details are below. Let’s show Rep. Ellmers how much she has meant to us.

DENVER – Looks like the “Occupiers” are ready to act, again and this time, conservatives are ready. We here in Denver at the Blogcon Conference, sponsored by FreedomWorks, expect them to hit us at about 5 p.m. local time (7 p.m. EST).
So far, it’s been an exciting day, with all levels of bloggers in the packed house, including the regular “Legion of Doom” gang, of which your blogger is a member. The “Legion” is a tight-knit group of about 40 bloggers who see each other regularly at these events.
FreedomWorks, a supporter of economic freedom, is as unpopular with liberal groups as is the Americans for Prosperity. Inspired by their counterparts in Washington, DC last weekend, they are have tweeted and blogged that they will be visiting the Blogcon hotel this afternoon. As mentioned, at 5 p.m. MST (7 p.m. EST) we expect them to arrive.
Last weekend, this blogger was hit in the back by a 2×4 as she attempted to leave the Defending the American Dream Summit in Washington. KCC was leaving the Washington Convention Center to meet a Supershuttle van.
Her rolling computer case was stuck in the door, and as she was trying to free it, she was hit in the back by an unknown person wearing dreadlocks and a striped knitted cap. Police, who saw the entire thing, would not assist, nor would they take a report. Sadly, no fellow attendees were around to help as KCC fell to the ground. There was a lot of pedestrian traffic on the sidewalk, so the man quickly slipped away.
Police in Denver have been notified of the possible events today.
If the Occupiers do indeed visit as planned, KCC will have photos and videos for you. Watch for them later!
Editor’s Note: KCC is recovering from the attack last weekend and is thankful that board missed the back of her head. Thanks be to God!
By Seton Motley, President – Less Government
From most appearances, the Senate will this week vote on Senate Joint Resolution (S.J.Res) 6 – the Congressional Review Act Resolution of Disapproval of the Obama Administration Federal Communications Commission (FCC)’s illegal Internet Net Neutrality power grab.
Ask Senator Kay Hagan to vote YES on SJ RES 6!
Only 51 votes are required for passage – which means only 4 Democrats are needed. There are 23 Democrat Senate seats up for reelection next year. A few of these folks aren’t running. The rest are – many in center or center-right states. Additionally, there are a few other Senators that should also be subject to Constitutional reason, and thusly contacted. Senator Kay Hagan is the one to contact in North Carolina.
The short video, explains it best. Watch it to better understand the issue.
Below is Hagan’s contact information. Reach out and tell her to vote Yes on S.J.Res 6. Also Tweet it all out using the hashtag #freethenet.
- Kay Hagan – North Carolina
Update: 12:31 p.m. Wednesday The Senate began considering this issue Wednesday morning and will take it up again on Thursday at 2:15 p.m. Please get your calls in to Senator Hagan by then! It’s not too late to defend our Internet Freedoms!
It was another big win for the Democrats in North Carolina this year, and a win that Republicans desperately wanted. Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx won a second term Tuesday, driven largely by the upcoming Democratic National Convention.
According to the Charlotte Observer, Foxx won 67% of the vote, over Republican challenger Scott Stone. Democrats also took all four of the city council seats that were up for election, making it a clean sweap over the Republican candidates.
Conservatives wanted to have the mayoral seat, as a sort of “bully pulpit” in which to welcome the Democrat guests to Charlotte next autumn. Democrats and other groups out-organized and out-worked the Republicans. In an election that saw one of the lowest turnouts ever, only 16 %, the liberal groups got their people to the polls, while conservatives did not.
This goes along with some of what was said at the Defending the American Dream Conference, held last weekend in Washington. The event was sponsored by the Americans for Prosperity, a group founded in North Carolina and greatly disliked by President Barack Obama.
During a breakfast on Saturday morning for the North Carolina delegation, Dallas Woodhouse told the attendees that the opposition is organized for eight, ten, and twenty years out.
Just like the Wake County school board races, held a month ago, there wasn’t just one Democrat office running the efforts, there were four. Each one was run by a different liberal organization, all working together and trying to undo the progress that members achieved the last two years, when forced busing was removed and the county saw a return to neighborhood schools.
Republicans, conservatives, and their allies, must get on a track towards the long term, instead of just looking to the next election, then sitting on our laurels.
Sure it’s fun to celebrate victories, but the Democrats have our number. They don’t like losing either and they have turned those efforts into victory. This state and nation has much to lose, and gain, in 2012. Let’s get together, recruit your friends and neighbors and get active. It’s almost too late. Join your local conservative group, tea party, or Republican party.

WASHINGTON – Friday night, during the “Tribute to Ronald Reagan Dinner”, radicals with the Occupy DC and a coalition of liberal groups tried violently to crash the Americans for Prosperity Defending the Dream Summit.
These radicals, some of whom carried black flags, wanted to supress rights of individuals to freely assemble and to intimidate conservatives into silence. Black flags often represent anarchy.
Many “Dream” attendees captured the violence on their smart phones. and shared them with the mainstream media. By Saturday morning, the story had became national news. CNN was the first to go national with the story, followed by other outlets. Caleb Hayes, a College Republican from Kansas, was interviewed by at least five different national news sources, as they ran his video of an innocent bystander getting run over by a car from an “occupier”. According to witnesses, the bystander had nothing to do with either group.
All Friday and Saturday afternoon, satellite trucks from media outlets circled the block around the Washington Convention Center, as both Republican Presidential frontrunners, Herman Cain and Mitt Romney, came to speak, along with other top conservatives. The event would have made national news anyway, regardless of the violence that occured, by the Occupiers.
The protestors circled the convention center and tried to enter every single entrance. Police did nothing despite reports that staffers at AFP called 911 four times. However, some video does show police getting involved. Security inside the building quickly moved to lock every entrance and no one was allowed to enter or leave.
KCC interviewed a wheelchair-bound woman who carried a small service dog. When she was finally allowed to leave and go the two short blocks to her hotel, protestors grabbed her dog and tried to pull her from her chair. Luckily, other conservatives came to her aid and security moved everyone from the center back to their hotels. The dog was safely returned, unharmed.
Later, from her hotel room, your blogger could hear firetrucks blazing through the intersection, trying to reopen it to traffic, which KCC observed police NOT doing. KCC does not blame the police officers, but rather their superiors who wouldn’t allow them to do their jobs. Your blogger sensed that the DC leadership felt it might be “bad politics” to appear to be unfriendly with the “Occupiers”.
The entire situation is truly sad. The staff at Americans for Prosperity, both here in North Carolina, and nationally, worked hard to bring us the best Summit yet. Other than the attack, the event went off without a hitch and we bloggers had a lot of fun.
It was great seeing so many friends ride the busses from North Carolina and surrounding states, and seeing the friends we’ve made over the years at the various AFP events.
Thank you AFP, and we look forward to next year!

Live, here is what is happening now at the Defending the American Dream Summit, here in at the Washington Convention Center, in Washington, DC.
Your blogger has just stepped into a breakout session at the Defending the American Dream Conference. On going is a discussion on Internet Freedom and the current speaker is Cong. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee.
Blackburn is discussing the dangers of Barack Obama and the liberals’ dangerous regulations that are coming.
She mentioned how banks are no longer hiring people in their front line services and hiring more in compliance services to deal with so many new regulations.
As with the banks, Internet regulations would compromise your privacy. In short, we must make those calls to to prevent the so-called “net neutrality”. As one attendee pointed out, the Internet is already neutral.
Blackburn added “this is a hysterical reaction to a hypothetical problem.”
Blackburn therefore continues to push against this “problem”. Phil Kerpin, of the sponsoring Americans for Prosperity, says that competition will prevent whatever problems the government fears will happen. If the government takes over our Internet, competition will cease, bringing expansion to a halt. Certain anti-government websites could be blocked. Hundreds of thousands of jobs will be lost.
KCC’s friend, Seton Motley with the Less Government Foundation, spoke next. He said that this is an example of applying old laws to new technologies. Government has not done anything with the Internet since 1996, a long time ago in terms of technology.
In those fifteen years, the Internet has thrived and grown, thanks to the lack of outside interference.
Motley believes that the Internet cannot be crammed into one category. Its many things. Same with smart phones. Sure you can make phone calls, but the do so much more.
Not long ago, a lefty group saw books from the Bible online and realized they had no way to stop it.
The race to regulation often happens in the presence of fear, concluded Motley.
Editor’s Note: This post was blogged live on KCC’s Samsung Galaxy 10.1 on the 4G LTE Verizon Network. If Network Neutrality passes, companies like Verizon and AT&T will cease to invest in their networks, as they will no longer have the incentive to do so.

The NC bus information is here. Please call the NC AFP to make sure it’s not too late at 919-839-1011. Be sure to ask if they can get you a hotel room.
Riding the bus is the very best financial deal and you will have fun talking with your free market friends along the way. New friends quickly become old friends by the end of the trip.
There are special activities for each state, too.
KCC will be there, as she has at every past Summit, blogging away, bringing it back to those who won’t be able to be there. Trust us. There is nothing like being there! Plus, you’ll be back in time for election day as most of the NC buses only stay Friday night.
KCC is providing her own transportation, which includes a mixture of Amtrak and aircraft, so she can come and go the exact hours she needs to, without having to drive. But, the bus is loads of fun, too, as your blogger can attest! The NC AFP staffers take very good care of their passengers and make sure any special needs are taken care of.
If you have a twitter account, follow the hashtag #Dream11 to keep up with the latest and to add your thoughts, too. People around the globe will be following you. KCC tweets at http://twitter.com/katys so be sure to follow. Remember, it’s @katys
More to come from Washington, beginning Thursday evening. REMEMBER, THIS IS THE GROUP THAT OBAMA “WARNED” US ABOUT.
