Wilmington Convention Center: Green Shade of Red
WILMINGTON, NC: Your blogger is sitting in a very warm Convention Center in downtown Wilmington. It’s virtually empty, and sweet violin music is flowing over the sound system. Apparently, we are in a “green” building, paid for by the taxpayers of Wilmington and New Hanover County.
From top to bottom, including the insulation, all the energy that is used here is recycled. Additionally, a representative told us that there are solar panels on the roof. The rooms are all sound proof with plenty of natural light.
That’s pretty unimpressive to this blogger who just wants the system to work well, with the more than 1800 delegates expected. Currently, a Central Committee meeting is underway, and everyone is scattered about, helping themselves to whatever they can find for lunch.
People are beginning to trickle in to the main convention hall, as general registration has opened. Convention business does not start until 2 p.m., so your blogger is hanging out at the media table with NC GOP political and communication director Mark Braden.
Braden, just came off a conference call and they are about to announce a new website, directed at our illustrious Governor, Beverly Perdue.
Look for it, next post.
