Help Create Competition in Lending in North Carolina – Action Alert

URGENT: Contact Your State Legislators-Ask them to Support the Consumer Finance Act!

URGENT: Contact Your State Legislators-Ask them to Support the Consumer Finance Act!

The North Carolina Americans for Prosperity wants to help create competition  in lending in the ole’ North State and competition is always a good thing. The Consumer Finance Act

will create jobs by expanding credit options for NC businesses and families,

wrote state Director Dallas Woodhouse, in an e-mail to members Monday.

Woodhouse added that

Large banks and groups such the A.A.R.P, N.A.A.C.P, and the AFL-CIO oppose this common-sense legislation so they can limit consumer options to their OWN high interest fee, high late fee, and credit cards.

Please follow the links to ask your state Representative and state Senator to support these bills. Supporting these bills saves money for the consumer and prevents the liberals from picking more hard-earned money from our pockets.

Dear Katy,

The North Carolina General Assembly will be debating an important bill that will create jobs by expanding credit options for North Carolina businesses and families.

Click here to contact your lawmakers and ask them to support House Bill 810 and SB 761.

Americans for Prosperity fully supports House Bill 810 and SB 761.

This legislation would:

  • Allow small hometown consumer installment lenders to set loan rates in accordance with consumer demand.
  • Protect North Carolinians from unsafe borrowing & undisciplined debt.
  • Safeguard old-fashioned, one-on-one consumer loans in local neighborhoods—with face-to-face loan applications & credit review, credit reporting & credit building.

Consumer installment lending is good for businesses in North Carolina. It’s a fact that money from small dollar loans in North Carolina is spent in North Carolina.

These loans help hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians, including military personnel stationed in our state who use this safe & responsible service every year to achieve family goals, help pay for education, handle auto & home repairs, & much more.

We believe supporting this bill is also fighting crony capitalism. Why should big banks stop other lending options so they can charge consumers 50 dollars on a 25 dollar bounced check? Why should the A.A.R.P be able to stop hometown lenders from loaning money to people, to support their credit card business? We need true consumer choice and competition in lending.

Click here to contact your lawmakers and ask them to support House Bill 810 and SB 761.

Sincerely,

Dallas Woodhouse
North Carolina State Director
