CPAC 2011: Donald Trump

The Thursday afternoon CPAC audience initially greeted business mogul Donald Trump enthusiastically. Some audience members jokingly yelled “You’re hired!”

Possible Presidential contender Trump said he believed in Free Trade with China, but condemned them for manipulating their currency.

Trump joked that nobody knew who Obama was when we elected him President. He pointed out that Obama had no adequate track record which could be scrutinized and evaluated. Trump accused the Obama administration of causing America to lose its respect worldwide. Trump promised that America would be respected again if he is elected President.

Declaring he has a great reputation for candor, Trump drew loud boos when he said Ron Paul could not get elected as President, even though he liked the guy. Trump was trying to contrast how he was a serious Presidential contender while Ron Paul was not. “By the way, Ron Paul cannot get elected, I’m sorry to tell you. I like Ron Paul, I think he’s a good guy but honestly he just has zero chance of getting elected.” Too bad for Trump the audience was filled with libertarians waiting to hear Rand Paul, the next CPAC speaker after Trump! Those libertarians savaged Trump for the rest of his speech.

Trump closed by saying he’s against both gun control and Obamacare. He also promised to not raise taxes if elected.

The Ron/Rand Paul apparatchiks chanted “Ron Paul, Ron Paul, Ron Paul!” as Trump left the stage. It was comedy gold.
