Students for Liberty Making A Splash at CPAC
The Students for Liberty are once again making their presence known at this year’s CPAC and there are many of them here. Their schedule is filled with events and Ron Paul himself is on the CPAC speaker list in 2011.
The Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC), which consists of a number of Ron Paul fans, is having its conference just outside of town, in Arlington VA, at the Arlington Hilton. That event is Feb. 12th, Saturday.
Last year, CPAC brought an unprecidented number of young libertarians (fiscal conservatives) to CPAC, as opposed to more traditional conservatives who are both social and fiscal conservatives.
One Wake County GOP activist told me that she would never attend CPAC again, as she was turned off by the many libertarians there last year.
CPAC is here for all sorts of conservatives and there is something for everyone, including the religious conservatives. We look forward to seeing Phyllis Shafly later.
On tonight’s bill for KCC the annual Blogger Bash at the FreedomWorks offices. Also GOProud is having a big party.

Excellent commentary Andrew. I’m looking forward to seeing Mrs. Schafly’s discussion today, as she was there at the very DAWN of the conservative movement and most of her contemporaries are no longer alive. Her group is not “old guard” as anyone having been in the movement for very long, gets accused of. In fact, Shafly and company got rid of the old guard, the RINOs. They were then known as the Rockafeller Republicans.
When she was a young woman in the early 1960s, no one had ever heard of a “true conservative movement”. Republicans weren’t really fiscal conservatives. Often, the Democrats were more conservatives thank the Republicans! She helped change all that.
Thanks for reading and I appreciate your comment.
Katy
Great coverage as always Katy. I would encourage all of those young attendees at CPAC 2011 to attend Mrs. Schlafly’s speech. Phyllis Schlafly has been around for all this time for a reason: she’s right; she’s always been right and she always will be right. Now is not the time for division. If anyone is at CPAC to push a libertarian agenda then they need to leave. Conservatism is what brought us out of the Carter era with Reagan. Conservatism is what won the security of Israel with Gold Meier and conservatism is what saved the UK with Margaret Thatcher. And conservatism will be our road to victory through Obama.
