FreedomWorks Creates FreedomConnect (Updated)

FreedomWorks has created a new networking group called FreedomConnect. It's not like other groups. Find out how!

UPDATE: FreedomWorks will be hosting a kickoff for FreedomConnect during CPAC. Watch this blog for more details.

The top tea party group in the nation, FreedomWorks, has created a new networking group called FreedomConnect.  Chairman Dick Armey wrote a letter to supporters explaining the concept.  It’s simple and it’s easy, and it is something you don’t want to miss out on.  If you can read this blog, you can get on FreedomConnect.

Dear Katy,

I want to tell you about something big. With your help, something REALLY big.

We call it FreedomConnect. Today, I’m asking for your help to make FreedomConnect as big as it should be. Heck, as big as it NEEDS to be.

If you haven’t joined yet, the first way you can help is to click here and do so right now.

In a few words, here’s why FreedomConnect is such a big deal that I just had to ask for your help to make it happen.

We created FreedomConnect to:

  • Provide the first-ever social networking platform that puts location first, making it easy to find groups and events near you. It’s designed to connect local patriots.
  • Bring together local and national activists up on the issues that matter to YOU. It’s designed to build coalitions for the long-term limited government fight.
  • Allow neighbors, allies, and even friendly rivals to communicate easily and set a game-plan. It’s designed to build local alliances and foster teamwork.
  • Once you join, you can help us achieve the “critical mass” needed to make FreedomConnect succeed by forwarding this email to all your freedom-minded networks. Also, once you’ve joined FreedomConnect there is an option under the “Act” menu to invite friends directly to the network.

I know that some folks will resist this idea. And the truth is, the Tea Party didn’t become the force that it is now because our other ways of communicating didn’t work at all — obviously they did, on some level. We just think this new tool will help make our movement bigger, stronger, and longer-lasting.

    Let me explain why.

At FreedomWorks, we’ve had more questions and complaints about how to find local patriots, local groups and local events than I can count. So we developed FreedomConnect to answer those questions, to solve those problems.

Maybe you use Ning to organize with your Tea Party, 9-12 or liberty group, and it serves your needs well. Maybe you use MeetUp or Facebook. But maybe your neighboring groups communicate on a different system, and as a result you have conflicting events and duplicated efforts.

Worst of all, maybe you don’t even know these neighboring groups exist. FreedomConnect will help tear down these barriers to communication.

It is important you understand that this platform belongs to the grassroots, not to FreedomWorks. You are given a full and free range of communication; we won’t control who you can talk to or (as long as it’s appropriate) what you can say.

We’ve never tried to control or direct the Tea Party movement, but we’ve worked hard to keep it together and help it grow. FreedomConnect is the next logical step for us. We’re taking a back seat, and handing over the power of this tool to the people. People like you.

You could call FreedomConnect our gift to the movement, but that’s not exactly how I see it. The truth is, this movement is a gift to our Republic, and we at FreedomWorks are committed to doing everything in our power to see that gift delivered. And THAT’S why we developed FreedomConnect.

I hope you’ll use it. I hope you’ll spread it. Together, we can build this tool and help build this movement from a powerful 2010 electoral force into an eternal force for real limited-government change for years to come.

If you agree, please click here to join FreedomConnect, and invite all your friends by using the  “Act” menu or forwarding this email with a welcoming note.

Thank you for working so hard to build this mov ement and bring us to where we are today. I hope I can count on your hard work to keep building this movement and take us to where we can be tomorrow.

    Sincerely,

    Armey Signature
