Wake County GOP Set To Go, Big Plans Ready to Roll
As your blogger writes, she is sitting in on an executive committee meeting of the Wake County (NC) Republican Party. KCC promised them she would not blog the actual proceedings, as the group does talk about strategy. However, as this is the first meeting of the year, they are “looking forward to good things”.
Wake County is not the ”good ‘ole boy” types, and they embrace the tea party activists that were so essential in the November elections. Susan Bryant is a fair chairwoman and KCC was thrilled that she took over, upon the resignation of the much beloved, Claude Pope, Jr. This blogger thinks Mrs. Bryant, who has a world of political experience will win a full-term at the Wake County Convention on March 24, 2011.
Former U.S. House Speaker and presidential hopeful, Newt Gingrich, will be the guest of honor at the county convention and a fundraiser for the county party is being planned in his honor. KCC will have the details as soon as they are arranged, or you can check out the Wake County GOP website for all the details as they are made available.
Living in the home of the state capitol has its advantages, and this blogger hopes the various local GOP affiliates continue to take advantage of it, as have the North Carolina Federation of Women Republicans have. Along with the NCFWR, is the appears to be the North Carolina Federation of Professional Young Republicans.
NCPYR State chairman, Jonathan Bandy told KCC that young people were the difference in this past election, and they will be the difference again in 2012. In a flier distributed at Saturday’s GOP Executive Committee, the question was:
What is the difference between a FORMER or a RE-ELECTED President Obama in 2012?
Answer: Young people, Young Voters, Young Republicans
YRs are open to any registered Republican, age 18-40. Your blogger spent nearly 20 years in the Wake County Young Republicans and was active at the state level. To find out more, check out their state website.
At the Executive committee meeting, Bandy explained to your blogger that the group added the name “professional” to their name to distinguish itself from the Teen-age Republicans (TARS).
Bandy stated that he was receiving many calls and emails with questions from people interesting in getting their middle and high school-aged children involved in party politics. ”The idea,” he said, “is to let people understand we are a group of slightly older activists”.
More coming soon!
