William (B.J.) Lawson, MD, Republican challenger to Congressman David Price (NC-4), is the object of new attack ads running on local TV stations.

Price has made a significant TV expenditure for this election, something he has not done in over a decade. Price receives more than 50 percent of his contributions from special interests, while Lawson’s campaign has been funded by individual donors.

Price Deems Eliminating the Federal Dept of Education “Extreme”

In the ads and throughout his campaign, Price calls Lawson, his supporters, and their conservative ideas “extreme,” specifically highlighting the elimination of the Department of Education.

Your blogger agrees that the United States (National) Department of Education is a complete waste of our tax monies and should be eliminated immediately!  KCC further agrees that education is a mission best left to individual states.

Lawson stated:

“Over the past 20 years, since the founding of the Department of Education, America’s schools have gotten worse.  My wife JoLynn is a former teacher for Durham Public Schools and our three children attend Wake County Public Schools, so we have seen firsthand how the federal government prevents prosperity in our local schools – it’s a disaster. Our tax dollars need to stay here in North Carolina, so it can be controlled and allocated by us rather than by Washington insiders,”  said Lawson.

“David Price’s rhetoric clearly shows he is uncomfortable with regular people getting involved in politics. The Constitution isn’t a complicated document and it clearly says what the federal government should not be doing, but that would upset his big contributors. All we are doing is asking basic questions about the role of the federal government.

Nancy Pelosi’s Best Pal

“The country’s recession has only gotten worse, unemployment is at record highs, and the federal deficit continues to skyrocket and David Price says conservative ideas are extreme? How about voting with Nancy Pelosi more than any other congressman?”

Out of 438 individuals in Congress, David Price votes with Pelosi more than any of them, reported Lawson.

There are districts in California, New York and Massachusetts who elect representation that has less in common with Pelosi.

This is North Carolina, not San Francisco. Having Pelosi’s carbon-copy as our representative? That’s extreme,” Lawson added

It’s time we remove Price from Congress forever.  The former Duke Political Science professor needs to be brought back home, for a permanent vacation.
