Rasmussen: Marco Rubio at 50% in Three-Way Senate Race in Florida (Video)
Marco Rubio, the young, handsome, tea party conservative, has achieved the nearly unthinkable. Florida voters “get” him and according to the latest poll. According to Rasmussen Reports:
Coming off a contentious televised debate, Republican Marco Rubio has now jumped to a two-to-one lead over Independent candidate Charlie Crist in Florida’s U.S. Senate race. Democratic Congressman Kendrick Meek still runs third.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Florida shows Rubio with 50% of the vote, up nine points from just over a week ago and his best showing in the race to date. Support for Crist, the state’s current GOP governor, has fallen to a new low of 25%, while Meek captures 19%. Three percent (3%) like another candidate in the race, and three percent (3%) more are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
Your blogger had the chance to watch that debate Wednesday evening as it was streamed live over the Internet. Conservatives on Twitter played a little game every time Crist mentioned/blamed (former Vice President/Sec of Defense/White House Chief of Staff/US House Minoity Whip) Dick Cheney (R-Wyoming) for Florida’s problems.
Crist kept claiming he showed “Leadership” by making the “tough choices”, such as standing WITH President Barack Obama when he visited Florida this year. Other such “leadership” was refusing to cut taxes in a terrible economy, and standing with the President on many issues. Is this how a GOP governor is supposed to “lead”? Apparently not, according to Floridians.
No wonder Mr. Rubio is in the lead. He came to the debate prepared with facts, rather than emotions. He came prepared with solutions, rather than problems. He came promising hope rather than doom.
Your blogger first heard Marco Rubio at February’s CPAC in Washington and is excited with this vision of our future.
He explained how to make the GOP into the Grand Ole Party once again, with his positive messages.
Bravo, Marco, on your excellent showing in this latest poll. We only hope the activists in Florida will keep their boots and heels on the ground and keep working for you.
