AFL-CIO Endorses Elaine Marshall for U.S. Senate
Do we need any other reason to vote FOR U.S. Senator Richard Burr and against his Democrat challenger, Elaine Marshall? The North Carolina AFL-CIO has endorsed her claiming that she is “pro-worker, pro-retiree, and pro-middle class”. Right. How far will this go in North Carolina? In 2010?
Everyone who has ever had a job is a “worker”. Most Republicans are blue collar, but when the AFL-CIO refers to “workers”, they mean only “union employees”. Most people are middle-class but they don’t buy into the union mentality.
KCC believes that
during the 1970s, unions forced companies to pay their workers such inflated salaries, that today’s outsourcing is the direct result.
Thus, Elaine Marshall’s ad, ”Outsource Richard Burr” is just plain wrong.
KCC Worked in a Union Shop
Your blogger worked in a Unionized pulp mill for three summers during college. Thank goodness our state is right-to-work, as KCC received union-company negociated wages, but was not forced join the United Paperworkers International.
It was shocking to see union members, wear clothing with union logos, instead of with logos of the company that provided their jobs.
When KCC worked too hard, the common theme was “don’t work yourself out of a job, Katy. We get paid by the hour.”
Your blogger still appreciates the opportunity to work there and learn about the pulp and paper industry from the inside. She saved her money and used the wages earned to pay her college expenses for the following year, helping to put herself through Meredith College. To the best of her knowledge, that local is no longer in operation.
Don’t Look for the Union Lady, Again!
As for Marshall, why should we expect more? She cannot turn down the union money, as she is far behind in her fundraising. KCC has received too many desperate pleas for contributions, but voters see the writing on the wall. Why throw money down a hole?
Unlike liberal Democrat, Kay Hagan, who was bought and paid for by unions in 2008, they can’t help you this time, Mrs Marshall. Voters have thankfully been made aware of such projects as Obamacare that YOU, support.
Voters may have fallen for it two years ago, but they won’t be fooled again!
