Right-Wing Gay Movement Hosts Ann Coulter in NYC
This week in New York City, something big happened. People attended a cocktail party, organized by GOProud, to hear conservative columnist and humorist Ann Coulter speak. This wasn’t just any group, it was a group of gay conservatives.
These folks aren’t your “Log Cabin” types, either. Remember all the GOP politicians who felt they had to return contributions from the Log Cabin Republicans? Bob Dole in 1996 is an example but there were many others.
GOProud is a multi-issue group that proudly endorses conservative candidates. They aren’t a single issue group that seeks only marriage for gays, as do the Log Cabin Republicans. These folks fight for the same issues as do we all: limited government, and lower taxes.
KCC is proud to call many of the members her friends. Fellow blogger, Gay Patroit, from the Charlotte area and has a well-written blog. He has a report on the events here. Your blogger first met him at CPAC 2010.
Your blogger grew up being wary of gays because she didn’t understand why. Over time, her views changed. She still doesn’t like any one militantly forcing their views upon anyone else as the left wingers do, but she realized that the right wing gays had the same hopes and dreams for this nation, as everyone else did.
Whatever you feel the Bible says about homosexuality, KCC admits that it is not her place to judge anyone. Only God does that. However, the more people we have in the true right-wing movement, the better. Here at KCC, we are happy to welcome anyone with conservative credentials. Being homosexual is not a litmus test for us. Supporting true fiscal tea party issues and some social issues, are.
Editor’s Note:
KCC does not support gay marriage, but is okay with spousal benefits and officially recognized civil partnerships.
