10 in ’10 for NC House Republicans (video)
Normally, your blogger would be at her home in Emerald Isle this week, the last of the summer, but with Hurricane Earl bearing down on Bogue Banks and the rest of the Outer Banks, she and her family are camped out in Raleigh at their apartment, waiting out the storm. She’d much rather be on the coast, watching the surfers, watching them ride the waves of the year, but alas, mandatory evacuations are in place. This time on Friday, she’ll be back.
Meanwhile, your House Republicans and GOP challengers have something else on their minds – they want to do a bit of evacuating themselves. They are asking voters to help them win the majority by helping them evacuate Democrats. In short, they want to win 10 in ’10 or ten new seats in 2010.
Democrats have held the majority in North Carolina since 1898 and have never let go. They’ve run our state as they’ve seen fit, and most recently raised taxes in a recession. On top of this, the old guard Democrats, the moderates, are being pushed out, while the young guns, the extreme leftists, are moving in and taking their places. If the Democrats are allowed to continue this path, North Carolina will get worse and we’ll remember the days of Marc Basnight, Tony Rand, and Joe Hackney as the “good ole’ days!
Conservatives do not want this.

Often, it’s hard for State Legislative candidates to compete with the glamour and glitz of United States Senate campaigns that are frequently discussed in the state and national news. This site provides and easy way for voters to get to know some of the House GOP challengers, and to let then know what their elected House Republicans have been up to.
For more information to see what our State Senators and Representatives have been up to during the past legislative session, a group called NC Civitas provides excellent information and your blogger encourages you to get involved with them.
Winning both the NC House and NC Senate back is vital this year. The winning party will re-draw the districts that are gerrymandered in favor of the Democrats, allowing Republicans to capture more of the actual vote, but letting Democrats to win more seats overall, and to continue to rule.
