McCullough Going for Wynn Seat on NC Appeals Court
Former NC Court of Appeals Judge Doug McCullough is seeking to return to that bench. With the vacancy created by the confirmation of Judge James Wynn to the 4th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, the open seat provides the perfect opportunity for McCullough to resume his near lifetime of public service.
McCullough served 29 years in the United States Marine Corps (on both active duty and in the reserves) and retired with the rank of Colonel. He served as a Federal Prosecutor, and worked in the United States Senate for the last man to set foot on the Moon, Harrison “Jack” Schmitt.
In a letter to supporters, McCullough wrote that no matter who else joins the race for the Wynn seat, he will be
the only one who has actually served a complete term on the NC Court of Appeals with a demonstrated record as an appellate judge.
He added in his letter:
We live in a wonderful country where we have freedoms that are unheard of in most of the world. A strong judiciary staffed by competent, honest and fair-minded judges is an essential element in preserving our freedoms.
McCullough cannot win this race without financial support. According to NC finance laws, he has less than 30 days to receive $26,300 from at least 225 registered voters. He needs checks in amounts of at least $10 so he can qualify for public financing.
Sadly, this is how our liberal General Assembly set it up, so please send a qualified Judge your check today.

According to the Raleigh News & Observer, 12 others have joined him in this race. However, your blogger feels that McCullough has the inside track, given his experience and knowledge. He just needs to raise the necessary funds to qualify for the public financing and to get the message out.
Katy’s Conservative Corner is please to endorse and support Judge Doug McCullough for the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
