Mississippi Queen
Happy Friday evening from the land of Governor Haley Barbour.
Your blogger is in Meridian, Mississippi to visit a cousin recently disabled in an automobile accident. Though he lost the use of both his legs, he feels fortunate to have lived by the Grace of God.
He’s never met your blogger’s son, so we promised him a visit this summer and here we are. We arrived with him dressed in a clown suit! Cousin John is a Mason and Shriner and clowns for the kids in the Shriners hospitals and in parades all over Mississippi. Despite his disability, he was still dressed up for the little man, who throughly enjoyed it.
John is still a hard core conservative and we had the best time poking fun at NoBama and the liberals in Congress. In fact, when I was leaving the Meridian airport this afternoon, the first billboard I noticed was one sponsored by the Mississippi Tea Party with a message that November will soon be here.
Gosh, I love this place! Even the people I spoke with on the Delta connector we flew in from Atlanta all agreed that the liberals had to go and they were willing to put in the work it takes.
What about us, North Carolina?
It’s one thing to rally, feel good, and talk about issues, but it’s another thing to get out and make those phone calls, put up the signs, and stand in the rain holding a sign on the days leading up to the final election day. Greeting voters is not easy, yet we must manage to bring, or drag every voter we can to the polls.
The work is not over yet!
Even KCC’s 5-year-old son has gotten into the act. Last year, he held up a sign for help elect the new majority Wake County school board. This year, who knows what he will do.
Your blogger must keep reminding him not to call Obama a “doody head”, at least in front of others.
