NCGOP to Gov Perdue: Dump Corrupt Elections Board Director & Chairman

The Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party is going after the corrupt Democrats, again.  In a press release,  he stated that the “Goldsboro Mafia”  is unacceptable and the corruption they have brought to taxpayers must end.

Your blogger is providing  the entire press release, below.  Emphasis added, but the text is provided by the state party.

North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Tom Fetzer today renewed his call for Governor Bev Perdue to remove State Board of Elections Director Gary Bartlett and State Board of Elections Chairman Larry Leake.  Recent news reports of sexual harassment and cronyism at the State Board of Elections has darkened the cloud already hanging over the office.

“The continuing examples of incompetence and corruption at the State Board of Elections demand that its leadership be replaced,”

said Fetzer at a Tuesday press conference. But the Republican leader indicated he had little hope that Perdue would do the right thing.

“However, Governor Perdue has no intention of removing the people who have been working to protect her.”

Fetzer was referring to mounting criticism of the handling of the State Board’s investigation into illegal and unreported air travel and questionable contributions to the Perdue for Governor Campaign.

“In addition to the documented instances of incompetence and corruption, it now appears that Leake and Bartlett allowed a serial sexual harasser to wreck havoc in their office,” Fetzer said.    He also noted that, once again, it was not until the media started questioning the activities did any action take place.  “The man tormented women and instead of being fired, he was promoted.   It was not until the  media began asking questions that the problem was rectified with his dismissal.”

Fetzer has been a vocal critic of the State Board of Elections’ handling of the Perdue investigation, and many of his concerns, including illegal air travel and illegal contributions, have been proven to be accurate.

Editor’s Note:

For more information, see the Raleigh News and Observer‘s Under The Dome blog entry on the issue here.  This is a great piece and the comments section offers much more detail on Leake and his associations, if you can get through it all.

Bonus points: look at the “images section” on the page.  These are your government employees on your dime.  They look like a bunch of buffoons and photo day seemed like it was for my son’s preschool class.    Where were these guy’s mothers?  Folks, this is why we need a GOP governor in ’12.  We need to get rid of these clowns.
