Poll: U.S. Senate Control Up for Grabs

According to the group American Crossroads, “voters have been fleeing Democratic candidates in record numbers”.  In a survey, released this morning, shows solid GOP leads across key battleground states as Independents leave Democrats.

The poll, conducted by Glen Bolger of Public Opinion Strategies and commissioned by American Crossroads, shows Republican candidates leading on the ballot by a whopping 47%-39% margin across 13 battleground Senate states – including 47%-40% in Democrat-held states. This was not a generic ballot test – but a test of specific candidates by name, with the results aggregated nationally.

The August 2-5 survey interviewed 1,300 likely voters in 13 states with a competitive U.S. Senate race: Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Washington.

North Carolina is not listed among these, as the firm used the Cook Political Report to determine the states that should be polled, and according to that report, NC is not considered a tossup.  ”Charlie Cook‘s report is something of a gold standard,” Jonathan Collegio told your blogger.  Collegio is the communications director of American Crossroads.

A memo on the survey can be found here, as can the survey questions and the crosstabs.

This is all good news for North Carolina and for the nation.  However, that does not mean that conservatives, like minded-Independents, and Republicans, can sit around and do nothing this election season.    Everything is contingent on conservatives outworking the liberals in these races, here at home, and across the nation.  We cannot sit on our perceived laurels.

Excellent read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing a little research on that. And he actually bought me lunch because I found it for him smile So let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch!

Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!

This is so true! It seems lately that conservatives here in NC are so convinced that there will be a “tidal wave” in the House and maybe even the Senate this year that they are resting easy. Those seats won’t flip themselves!

There is a lot of work to be done and every grassroots and tea party type campaign needs more volunteers, more money, and more online help. I hope conservatives in NC wake up before too long!

    Great post, KCC!
