Knoxville Mayor Wins Tenn GOP Gov Primary

We may think we have a long election season in North Carolina, but take the case of neighboring Tennessee.  Their primaries were not until yesterday, while ours were seemingly “forever ago”, back in May.  Your blogger is a Tennessee native, despite spending all her adult life, and all her political life, here in North Carolina.  She still the Volunteer State often and had friends working on all three races.

Two-term Knoxville mayor, Bill Haslam outpolled second place finisher, Congressman Zack Wamp (R-TN-3) of Chattanooga.  Blountville native and Lt Governor Ron Ramsey finished third.  The race was long, and sometimes bitter, according to various sources.

For detailed information on the Republican Gubernatorial primary, read an interesting report here on the blog, The Tennessee Report.

For detailed election results, check here in the Tennessean newspaper in Nashville.

Haslam will face Democrat and Jackson beer distributor, Mike McWherter.  More on that story here.
