Today’s Raleigh News and Observer posted online a troubling “breaking news” article.  Five death row inmates are

challenging their death sentences on the basis of racial bias, the first test of a ground-breaking law passed last year by the state legislature that allows inmates to challenge their sentences on the basis of race.

Thanks to our liberal NC General Assembly, the criminals on Death Row here, can challenge their death sentences based purely on race.  Further, North Carolina is only one of two states with this law.

Your blogger, is frankly tired of the race card.    As she frequently states in her comments to News and Observer articles,

Only racists still care about race and use the race card.

Meanwhile, the News and Observer states that the law allows defendents in death penalty cases and death penalty inmates to

to challenge prosecutions on grounds of bias. It also allows judges to consider statistics and trends of racial disparities in death sentences to change a death sentence to life in prison without parole or to stop prosecutors from seeking capital punishment at the outset.

More challenges from other death row inmates are expected soon with this troubling criminals rights law.

Your blogger wonders, what about the victims?  What about the juries who carefully considered the facts in the case? Are they really that biased? What about the judges?

This is just one more reason why we need to vote out the liberals (Democrats) in the North Carolina General Assembly in November.

Please don’t sit home on election day.  Early voting starts in October and every vote counts.  Every Democrat is vulnerable this year and conservatives can take advantage of that to overturn some of these horrible laws.  Check with your local elections board to see when early voting begins in your county.
