Buying Arizona
This afternoon at the RightOnline conference, your blogger decided to check in on the exhibit hall. Usually that’s the best place to find the funny, conservative t-shirts, buttons, flags, and memorabilia.
One of the first people she met was an angry five year old boy, whose name KCC is withholding. He reminded your blogger of her own son, Bobby, also five, who says the exact same things.
He, out of the blue, threatened to punch me and beat me up, like he was going to beat up Obama. This brought a smile to your blogger’s face, as young Bobby does the same thing. (Your blogger works with her son to channel his anger into more worthwhile pursuits.)
Turns out, the young man is the son of a woman who writes an Arizona-based blog entitled Angry Right Wing Housewife. She didn’t want her name used, but said she’s a leader in the Arizona Tea Party movement and runs a number of blogs, along with her apparently angry husband and obviously angry son.
“Housewife” told me how she and her team of patriots had to work hard to pressure Governor Jan Brewer (R-AZ) to sign the immigration bill that the Arizona state legislature passed. Gov. Brewer was waffling on signing in an election year, but the bill would have become law anyway, ten days after passage. Brewer signed the bill the night before it would have become law, putting her belated stamp of approval on it.
“Housewife” and your blogger talked for quite a long time and we shared a number of war stories. While there, your blogger mentioned that the city council of Durham had voted to boycott Arizona and thus would not be purchasing anything made in that state. Housewife couldn’t believe this.
KCC told her that since she had been tweeting for everyone to buy, rather than boycott Arizona products, your blogger needed pick up a few items to take home. Now she is the proud owner of two t-shirts, and two political buttons, “proudly made in Arizona”.
Buying Arizona. Gee, it sure does feel good.
Editor’s Note: Check out the Angry Housewife’s site fill out the contact form. Ask her how you, too, can get your hands on nifty tea party and conservative stuff from Arizona.
According to her flier, Angry Right Wing Housewife says:
the sale of tea party buttons, t-shirts, and flags help support funding rallies against the out-of-control government.
